‘Queen’s’ Result
Posted by Short Motorsports Admin on 10/06 at 10:58 AMThe Short Motorsports team looked to have a good showing at the final race of the ‘08 season. $5,000 was up for grabs as some of the nations’ big names rolled into town. Steve would start in the second row in his heat, behind Bryan Matthews and Knoxville regular Justin Zimmerman. On a heavy track, starting position proved crucial as the cushion was midtrack. Steve tried everything he could to get around Zimmerman for second, for an entry into the nights’ dash, but Zimmerman held on to second with a half-car length over the 8s. Steve and the crew would then set their sights on moving up in the ‘A’ main.
Starting in the sixth row Steve had his work cut out for him. With the track starting to widen out, Steve found the bottom within the first three laps and was on the move. Picking off the leaders one by one, Steve proved to be one of the fastest cars on the track. In the final laps running 5th, Steve hunted down Danny Smith from a straightaway back and began to work on the ‘original outlaw’. Searching for a faster line to get by the famous #4, Tim Montgomery would sneak by Steve on the final lap for the 5th position. Steve would come home a stout 6th place wearing the Macy Monroe winning designed helmet.
Special thanks to all of our fans during the ‘08 season. You helped to drive the 8s this year. What a season it was, we hoped you enjoyed it as much as we did. Thank you.

‘Shorty Club’ NOT FORGOTTEN
Posted by Short Motorsports Admin on 09/04 at 11:16 AMStay tuned for more ‘Shorty Club’ events.
We have not forgotten about the kids. We have been doing massive amounts of work on the car to try and get it to where it needs to be. Instead of throwing something together for the club, we’ve been planning some events that will help close the season. Look for an event to start on September 13th. We will be handing out pages for the NEW COLORING CONTEST, with a very special prize that will be given to the winners at the Queens Royale in October!
Don’t forget about us either! Come see us after the races!
Late Season Charge
Posted by Short Motorsports Admin on 08/29 at 10:38 AMAfter 6 weeks of bad pill draws (none better than 30), Short Motorsports is looking for a dose of good luck.
Drawing the worst pill again last week placed Steve starting last in his ‘loaded’ heat race. Transferring through to the ‘A’ Main from the last heat would start him in the 6th row. Once again, Steve would charge within the top ten in the first few laps, then carry on a fierce battle with Joey Montgomery for the last 10 laps. Steve would eventually take the spot from Montgomery for an 8th place finish.
With competition at it’s highest in years, starting further towards the front would definitely be a boost in the standings.
‘Luck is definitely needed when drawing a number.’
FRIDAY SHOW CANCELLED
Posted by Short Motorsports Admin on 07/25 at 07:43 AMThe weekly series show at AutoTire Racepark, in Benton, MO has been canceled tonight.
LOOKING AHEAD
Posted by Short Motorsports Admin on 07/24 at 11:03 AMAfter a solid month of bad luck with pill draws, and brake caliper failures, the team hopes to find another string of good luck. This week the 8s will be competing in the weekly series at the AutoTire Racepark in Benton, MO, then traveling to Montgomery County Speedway to try and capture their second victory with the MASS ALL STARS series. Last time the team raced with the series, Steve came out on top after a 30 lap battle with Tom Dickerman and Paul Hart in Benton, MO. Stay tuned for results and many more updates from the Short Motorsports team.

‘Get ‘em Next Time’
Posted by Short Motorsports Admin on 06/18 at 11:10 AMThe Short Motorsports team knew it would be a tough night as soon as they rolled the car out of the trailer last weekend. A broken stud from the torque tube was found on the trailer floor after removing the car from the trip to the speedway. Extensive work to the torque tube / driveline was completed mere minutes before slow warm-ups Saturday night. A back row starting position for the heat was yet another challenge that the team had to overcome. Steve clawed his way through the field to finish 3rd in the heat race which placed him 9th on the grid for the ‘A’ main event.
In the main event, only a hand full of cars made slight progress on the super-slick track, while the team could only accomplish finishing where they started. 9th place was recorded for Steve, but all in all, nothing more was torn up. The team will have the ‘workhorse’ tuned up for yet another $2,000 to win show at SFCR on June 21st.
2nd
Posted by Short Motorsports Admin on 06/10 at 11:23 AMTwo Second Place Finishes in the Last Two Weeks… Deuces are wild for the Short Motorsports team.
The boys had the red and black machine tuned up again this week as their momentum continues to build. Starting 5th in the heat race, Steve made an exciting 3 wide pass into turn 3 on his way to finishing SECOND. Feeling lucky, Steve drew pill # 1 for the dash setting him up for and exciting ride. He would capture his SECOND dash win of the young season at SFCR with a straightaway lead over Tim Montgomery.
After leading the first 20 laps of the ‘A’ main, and having exciting battles with Joey Montgomery and Jason Keith, Keith would get the better of Steve in lapped traffic.
Immediately after pulling into the pits after bringing the 8s home in SECOND, Steve would pull a TWO inch rock out from under the throttle pedal.
The team looks forward to gaining ONE more spot next weekend as they return to SFCR.

Great Weekend
Posted by Short Motorsports Admin on 05/27 at 11:06 AMThe night after the biggest win for the Short Motorsports team was another $2,000 to win show at SFCR.
The night started out with a bang, with Steve taking home his second heat race win of the young season. Starting on the pole of the ‘Dash’, Steve would take a commanding lead on the lightning fast track, that would eventually place him on top of the grid for the ‘A’ main.
Steve would fall in line at the start in the second position, mirroring Worley Jr.’s every move. Halfway through the main, traffic would come into play as Worley went high, and Steve went low to split a lapped car. The lapper also chose the low line into turn three, opening the door for Jason Keith and Joey Montgomery to slip by. With the car becoming increasingly tight, Steve would hang onto the forth spot in the feature event.
The team was overall happy, taking home the MASS All Stars win, followed by a stout 4th place to round out the weekend.
VICTORY!
Posted by Short Motorsports Admin on 05/27 at 10:59 AMCAMARGO, IL (05-23-08) by Robert Cortum - Midwest All Star Series Image
Benton Race Park in Benton, Missouri is crucial for the O’Reilly Midwest All Star Series in 2008 as it plays host for a total of 5 events. The second of those event was held Friday night May 23, and Steve Short proved why he is always a contender when racing with the group.
Short, would take the lead over Tom Dickerman and not let go as he piloted his family owned 8S to his first victory of the season. Short found the inside groove to his liking as he took the lead, an area of the track that started coming in towards the middle of the event for a few of the superstars. The team performed solid over the night as they qualified 4th and then ran 4th in their heat race, placing them on the outside of row 2 for the feature.
“I like racing with these guys, and have raced with most of them over my career. I’d like to get out to more Midwest All Star Shows, but my schedule doesn’t allow it a lot of times,” stated Short.
In qualifying action, Tiffany Wyzard made O’Reilly Midwest All Star history, becoming the first female to record quick time for the series. A pair of “Doc” Sloan cars would take the 2nd and 3rd positions with “Sparky” Pate besting his boss by one position. The before mentioned Short qualified 4th and Jason Evans from nearby Sikeston, Missouri would make the top 5 comfortably.
Heat races were a hard fought follow the leader affair. Those who found themselves gaining position were few, but proved that track prep and adjustments were going to be key for the evening’s events. First Heat went to Jimmy Hurley, second was taken home by Mark Shirshikan, and the third heat by 2007 series Rookie of the Year Brad Greer.
The Dash event for the night marked the arrival of Kody Kinser as a top competitor. The youngster from Indiana showed the way of the “Members Only” event leading Sparky Pate, Doc Sloan, Ryan Bunton, AJ Bruns, and Jerrod Hull.
The O’Reilly Midwest All Star Series will make their 2nd of 3 stops this weekend, Saturday May 24th at Mount Vernon Speedway in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Visit http://www.midwestallstarseries.com for more info.
