Short Shreds St. Francois
Posted by Short Motorsports Admin on 04/22 at 08:24 AMSteve Short kicked off the 2010 campaign with a win in 410 action at St Francois County Raceway in Missouri. After starting last in his heat race and charging to a second place finish, Steve had some luck by drawing the number one pill for the dash. With a great start, Steve would pull away from the rest of the field winning the dash. Starting on the pole for the big show, 3 complete restarts and a red flag would delay the start of the ‘A Main’. Once the race was under way, Steve again got a good jump into the top spot with Joey Montgomery and Jerrod Hull in close tow. Slicing through lapped traffic, he started to put some distance between him and second place charger Jerrod Hull, but cautions continued to bunch the field back up. However, Short led every lap of the feature that finally ended after three pressure filled green, white, checkered attempts. Short, the 2008 AutoTire Racepark Track Champion, looks to add another title to his resume in his brand new XXX chassis this year.

End of the Season Run
Posted by Short Motorsports Admin on 09/17 at 06:39 PMWith the biggest races of the year quickly approaching, the team is excited for the possibilities of what’s to come. With a worn out 8s machine, the team is trying to make the best of what they can. Continuing to battle the dreaded pill draw, endless rear end problems, and a bent chassis, the team thinks they have found something that the car likes. Steve and the crew are itching for another strong run this weekend before traveling to Jacksonville, Illinois for the ‘Shaheen Back from the Past’ event, then back to SFCR to gear up for the Queen’s Royale. You can bet that Short Motorsports will turn up the wick for the end of the season run.
The fans may see a ‘Steve Short’ they haven’t seen in awhile… stay tuned.
Keep it Rolling
Posted by Short Motorsports Admin on 07/24 at 10:50 AMShort Motorsports will try to keep the pressure on the field this Saturday at SFCR, after a string of incredibly strong showings the past 3 weeks. Steve brought the 8s home with a season high 3rd place finish last weekend on a track that was quickly fading. Steve picked up his 3rd heat win of the year which put him in great position for the rest of the night. He would then put on a fierce battle with Tommy Worley Jr. and Tom Dickerman in the dash to finish 4th. In the ‘A’ main, the track would take rubber on the 7th circuit narrowing the track to one lane. Nose to tail with 2nd place running Keith Burch, Steve could not find a way around and came home 3rd. (Knock on wood) It seems as though the car is back finally back on track. After frantically searching for a good handling race car, with proven set-ups, the team discovered it was a bent left rear shock that was throwing the car out of wack. With the shock rebuilt, the car has come to life, and just in time. In just two short weeks, the 8s will travel to the inaugural ‘Ironman 55’ in Pevely, MO to compete once again with the World of Outlaws.
Come out and support the 8s this weekend at the St. Francois County Raceway in Farmington.
BIG Weekend of Racing!
Posted by Short Motorsports Admin on 06/25 at 11:20 AMA new event has been added to the schedule for this weekend as Short Motorsports will travel to the Morgan County Speedway in Jacksonville, IL for the Leon Smith Memorial. $3,000 is on the line with even bigger bragging rights going into SFCR for a fan boosted $2,500 to win special event. After another week off, the 8s is again recharged for 410 action. Come out and support Steve and the Short Motorsports team!
We also ask the fans to support the Shepp’s Speedway event on Sunday for another $2,000 to win.
The 8s will not be able to appear at this track due to prior commitments.
This weekends racing will be in memory of the late Leon Smith and Dennis Frank. Thank you for your contributions to this wonderful sport.
Recharging
Posted by Short Motorsports Admin on 06/05 at 07:51 PMAfter several weeks of tough competition at the St. Francois County Raceway, Steve Short has had a steady climb in the points series. In 6 full nights at SFCR, Steve has finished inside the top ten in each ‘A’ Main.
Currently ranked 3rd in points, just 20 points behind the leader, Short Motorsports will take a one week hiatus from 410 racing.
The points championship will be put on the back burner for now. With limited sponsor income, time off is a necessary evil. But don’t worry loyal 8s fans, Short Motorsports will return to SFCR on June 13th in full force.
Until then, a massive overhaul on the 8s machine will take place for maintenance.
Stay tuned . . .
Happy Mother’s Day!
Posted by Short Motorsports Admin on 05/07 at 11:17 AMShort Motorsports would like to wish all of the mothers in the stands, a Happy Mothers Day!
THANK YOU for always being understanding when it’s time for the boys to go play in the dirt.
WE LOVE YOU.
In Need of LUCK
Posted by Short Motorsports Admin on 05/07 at 10:56 AMAfter one month of bad, low down, rotten luck, Short Motorsports is ready to turn it around this weekend at SFCR. Spirits are back up at the shop, a few new tires have rolled in and the will to win is as strong as ever.
April 25th was a rough night for the team. Steve was involved and an “incident” while running side by side on the back straightaway for the second position in his heat race. Heavy damage was sustained to the 8s including, a snapped front end, drag link, panhard bar, both front shocks, left front wheel and tire, front wing, cracked radiator and a kinked downtube. Needless to say, the team put the ridiculous wreck behind them and looked forward to the main event. Finishing repairs minutes before the ‘A’ main, Steve would start in the last row. The 25 lap main event would be a struggle in every turn while Steve would wrestle with a car that had no brakes, however he still managed to pick his way through the field to finish in the 10th position.
Opening Night Appearance!
Posted by Short Motorsports Admin on 04/01 at 10:59 AMA new chapter begins for Short Motorsports this Saturday night as the 8s returns to SFCR. The team is excited for the beginning of ‘09 season after a shaky, drawn out winter. The economy has definitely played it’s part with the 8s team, as sponsors are few and far between these days. The team is again, turning to the fans for their support. The ‘Shorty Club’ was a huge morale booster last year for everyone involved, and new plans are in the works for this year’s club members. We are proud to have our loyal fans and hope to see all of you this weekend at the track. Cheer loud...we want to hear you!
The 2009 Schedule is almost complete...stay tuned for more info on where the team will pop up this season.
Winter Update 1
Posted by Short Motorsports Admin on 12/12 at 12:13 PMFor those of you continually returning to shortmotorsports.com, and sending messages to us, THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT. We are truly blessed to have fans like you.
Within the next month we should know what the ‘09 season holds for the team. We have only begun the winter season, and it has already seemed like a long one. All of us are ready to return to the track to compete with the 8s, but for now it is unclear on whether we will be able to do that or not.
We are currently in the hunt for sponsors, but as everyone knows, it is a tough road. If anyone has any word on sponsorship opportunities, don’t hesitate to contact us. Anything at all will surely help to get us back out on the track.
Stay posted for more frequent updates.
‘Queen’s’ Result
Posted by Short Motorsports Admin on 10/06 at 10:58 AMThe Short Motorsports team looked to have a good showing at the final race of the ‘08 season. $5,000 was up for grabs as some of the nations’ big names rolled into town. Steve would start in the second row in his heat, behind Bryan Matthews and Knoxville regular Justin Zimmerman. On a heavy track, starting position proved crucial as the cushion was midtrack. Steve tried everything he could to get around Zimmerman for second, for an entry into the nights’ dash, but Zimmerman held on to second with a half-car length over the 8s. Steve and the crew would then set their sights on moving up in the ‘A’ main.
Starting in the sixth row Steve had his work cut out for him. With the track starting to widen out, Steve found the bottom within the first three laps and was on the move. Picking off the leaders one by one, Steve proved to be one of the fastest cars on the track. In the final laps running 5th, Steve hunted down Danny Smith from a straightaway back and began to work on the ‘original outlaw’. Searching for a faster line to get by the famous #4, Tim Montgomery would sneak by Steve on the final lap for the 5th position. Steve would come home a stout 6th place wearing the Macy Monroe winning designed helmet.
Special thanks to all of our fans during the ‘08 season. You helped to drive the 8s this year. What a season it was, we hoped you enjoyed it as much as we did. Thank you.

VICTORY!
Posted by Short Motorsports Admin on 05/27 at 10:59 AMCAMARGO, IL (05-23-08) by Robert Cortum - Midwest All Star Series Image
Benton Race Park in Benton, Missouri is crucial for the O’Reilly Midwest All Star Series in 2008 as it plays host for a total of 5 events. The second of those event was held Friday night May 23, and Steve Short proved why he is always a contender when racing with the group.
Short, would take the lead over Tom Dickerman and not let go as he piloted his family owned 8S to his first victory of the season. Short found the inside groove to his liking as he took the lead, an area of the track that started coming in towards the middle of the event for a few of the superstars. The team performed solid over the night as they qualified 4th and then ran 4th in their heat race, placing them on the outside of row 2 for the feature.
“I like racing with these guys, and have raced with most of them over my career. I’d like to get out to more Midwest All Star Shows, but my schedule doesn’t allow it a lot of times,” stated Short.
In qualifying action, Tiffany Wyzard made O’Reilly Midwest All Star history, becoming the first female to record quick time for the series. A pair of “Doc” Sloan cars would take the 2nd and 3rd positions with “Sparky” Pate besting his boss by one position. The before mentioned Short qualified 4th and Jason Evans from nearby Sikeston, Missouri would make the top 5 comfortably.
Heat races were a hard fought follow the leader affair. Those who found themselves gaining position were few, but proved that track prep and adjustments were going to be key for the evening’s events. First Heat went to Jimmy Hurley, second was taken home by Mark Shirshikan, and the third heat by 2007 series Rookie of the Year Brad Greer.
The Dash event for the night marked the arrival of Kody Kinser as a top competitor. The youngster from Indiana showed the way of the “Members Only” event leading Sparky Pate, Doc Sloan, Ryan Bunton, AJ Bruns, and Jerrod Hull.
The O’Reilly Midwest All Star Series will make their 2nd of 3 stops this weekend, Saturday May 24th at Mount Vernon Speedway in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Visit http://www.midwestallstarseries.com for more info.
